Today In Latin American History

On December 24, 1962, Cuba freed the last remaining prisoners taken during the United States’ failed Bay of Pigs Invasion, in exchange for a total of $53,000,000 worth of food and medical supplies. Five days later, US President John F. Kennedy and his wife held a welcome reception for the returned prisoners and their families at the Orange Bowl in Florida.
