Today In Latin American History
On June 23, 1914, at the time of the Mexican Revolution, the forces of Pancho Villa’s División del Norte defeated the military troops of president Victoriano Huerta, led by Gen. Luis Medina Barrón, to take over the city of Zacatecas. The battle resulted in several thousand casualties, most from the government side. Huerta resigned from the presidency less than a month later.
